Overview:
The Patient Administrative Specialist plays a crucial role in managing patient interactions and ensuring smooth operational processes within the outpatient clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate new patient intake and manage surgery scheduling efficiently.
- Handle various front office tasks to support clinic operations.

Essential Functions:
- Master scheduling and new patient coordination.
- Ensure authorization coordination and manage surgery/procedure scheduling.
- Collect and coordinate specialized data as required.

Level I Duties:
- Greet patients warmly and assist with inquiries regarding appointments and payments.
- Manage multi-line phone systems, directing calls and taking messages for clinic staff.
- Verify patient information and ensure necessary authorizations are completed prior to appointments.
- Communicate effectively with providers regarding scheduling needs and urgent patient matters.
- Utilize electronic medical records and telephone systems proficiently.

Additional Proficiencies:
- Collaborate with care teams and external facilities to gather essential patient information.
- Prepare medical records for clinic visits and assist in scheduling ancillary tests.
- Ensure patient eligibility for requested services and manage payment collections.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting or two years in customer service within a non-healthcare industry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with medical terminology and computer systems relevant to the role.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in Windows-based software and electronic patient databases.

Physical Demands:
- Primarily office-based work with frequent sitting and occasional walking or standing.
