Position Summary:

The Senior Safety Manager is accountable for overseeing all field safety operations essential for supporting the MIC teams. This role is integral to the training team, collaborating closely with the Training Coordinator and Director of Safety, Health, and Environment (SH&E). The Senior Safety Manager will maintain effective communication with divisional and project management regarding safety matters and represent the safety department to meet customer safety-related requirements. This position serves as the primary technical and leadership resource for our MIC team of field safety professionals.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Operations: Drive the safety processes and programs within MIC. Foster involvement in safety initiatives across all management levels and craft. Promote exemplary safety leadership organization-wide. Ensure all projects have a comprehensive written site safety plan and assist in its development as needed. Maintain robust communication with client representatives and facilitate regulatory visits.
  • Compliance: Conduct inspections to ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory standards. Ensure all projects comply with safety policies and maintain accurate records through ongoing site reviews. Champion safety programs and assist in managing occupational injuries to ensure the highest medical care for injured workers.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver training on various safety topics, oversee all safety training programs, and provide mentorship to safety professionals. Participate in corporate safety committee meetings and lead training in relevant Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) areas.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Support EHS Leadership in evaluating safety professionals' performance and assist in selecting qualified safety personnel.
  • Coordinate with EHS Leadership in recruitment efforts for site safety staff.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in safety and training, demonstrating strong safety leadership.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with MIC Health and Safety programs and regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present information effectively.
  • Proficient in computer skills and capable of solving practical problems.
Physical Demands:

This position requires prolonged sitting and working at a computer, with the ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.

Travel Requirements:

Must be willing to travel frequently, up to 75% of the time.
