Job Summary

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a skilled Imaging Technologist to join our team in the department of Radiology. As an Imaging Technologist, you will be responsible for performing and teaching specialized general diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing complex imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during exam.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiography procedures using a variety of imaging equipment, including fixed and portable radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic imaging studies.
  • Provide instruction to trainees, students, and other medical staff on operation and safety precautions.
  • Establish rapport with patients and provide information about how the exam is performed and what is required of the patient.
  • Utilize standard safety precautions to minimize or eliminate risks to patients, personnel, and equipment.
  • Prepare and administer contrast material to patients under radiologist's supervision as required.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
  • Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.
