Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Imaging Technologist or Imaging Technologist to join our team at the University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty- Radiology Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and teaching specialized imaging procedures, operating and maintaining complex imaging equipment, and ensuring patient safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and teach specialized imaging procedures, including CT and diagnostic radiography, with close patient monitoring during exams.
  • Operate, adjust, and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanical components of imaging equipment.
  • Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot equipment, and report any failures.
  • Instruct trainees, students, and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
  • Explain examination processes to patients and ensure their welfare.
  • Perform patient care techniques, including skin preparation, I.V. placement, vital sign monitoring, and basic life support.
  • Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
  • Plan daily, regular, and STAT scheduling for efficient room utilization.
  • Participate in on-call coverage and assist with inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining quality assurance.
  • Participate in phantom, human, and/or animal research and maintain knowledge of technical developments and software updates.
  • Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
  • Instruct and/or evaluate the clinical abilities and performance of Radiology Technology or sub-specialty students on a clinical rotation.
Requirements
  • Senior Imaging Technologist: Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Senior Imaging Technologist: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Imaging Technologist: Successful completion of a two-year or other approved program by the Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education.
Certifications
  • Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Previous work or clinical education experience in general radiology in a level 1 Trauma center.
  • Recent work or clinical education experience in general radiography.
  • Recent work or clinical education experience in CT and general radiography.
  • CT modality training.
  • CT certification or eligible.
