Job Description

The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia seeks a highly qualified candidate for an Academic General Faculty position in the Department of Systems and Information Engineering. The successful applicant will lead the school-wide Engineering Business Minor and teach in the SIE degree program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the teaching of the Engineering Business Minor and its administration
  • Recruit and manage the teaching team for the EBM and related technology entrepreneurship courses
  • Act as the principal advisor to students and other faculty interested in the EBM and technology entrepreneurship courses
  • Teach courses in the systems engineering degree program, conduct and engage in educational and other research activities, and participate in service activities in SIE
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in systems engineering, engineering management, or a related field
  • Teaching experience at the university level
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-confidence to interact effectively with faculty, staff, working professionals, and industry/research sponsors
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant engineering business experience in the private sector
  • Demonstrated research/professional activities, including publications, funded research, or other related professional activities
