The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Services Department delivers both direct and indirect patient care. This role involves utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, and implement care strategies for patients, which includes educating patients and their families, as well as planning for continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver nursing care tailored to the specific conditions and requirements of each patient.

2. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

3. Develop, evaluate, and adjust the patient care plan as necessary.

4. Administer medications and treatments within the Registered Nurse's scope of practice.

5. Document patient care activities, including assessments, reassessments, and ongoing treatment notes in the medical record.

6. Utilize various computer systems effectively.

7. Operate medical equipment essential for patient care.

8. Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, diagnoses, medications, discharge procedures, and self-care strategies.

9. Provide care in accordance with nursing standards to promote optimal outcomes, minimize patient harm, and support health and recovery.

10. Demonstrate the ability to adhere to established Standards of Performance.

Organizational Expectations

Engage actively in safety initiatives and practices, including participation in safety briefings, debriefings, huddles, and reporting of unexpected patient events, regardless of harm.

Exhibit effective mentoring skills, maintain loyalty to absent colleagues, consistently apply AIDET and the 5 P's, and uphold the facility's Standards of Performance.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education
Must hold an active RN license in Tennessee or a compact state license with the intention to obtain a Tennessee RN license.

Required Skills
Current BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.
ACLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
PALS certification is required within 90 days of hire.
HWC certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
