The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Services department is responsible for delivering both direct and indirect patient care. This role involves utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, and implement patient care, which includes educating patients and their families as well as planning for ongoing care.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver nursing care tailored to the specific conditions and requirements of patients.
2. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
3. Develop, review, and adjust the patient care plan as necessary.
4. Administer medications and treatments in accordance with the Registered Nurse's scope of practice.
5. Document patient care activities, including assessments and ongoing treatment notes, in the medical record.
6. Utilize various computer systems effectively.
7. Operate medical equipment essential for patient care.
8. Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, diagnoses, medications, discharge instructions, and self-care strategies.
9. Provide care that adheres to nursing standards, promoting positive outcomes and patient safety.
10. Demonstrate the ability to follow established performance standards.
Organizational Expectations
Engage actively in safety initiatives and participate in various safety-related activities, including briefings and debriefings. Uphold the facility's performance standards and demonstrate loyalty and effective communication.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
Must hold an active RN license in Tennessee or a compact state license with plans to obtain a Tennessee RN license.
Required Skills
Current BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.
ACLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
PALS certification is required within 90 days of hire.
HWC certification must be completed within 6 months of hire.
