The role involves assisting the Purchasing Manager in the procurement process while ensuring optimal inventory levels are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Management of Inbound and Outbound Materials

  • Efficiently unload materials and imported components using forklifts or manual handling when necessary.
  • Repack and label imported components, ensuring they are stored in plastic pallets and labeled appropriately when required.
  • Organize materials in their designated storage areas within the warehouse for effective identification and accessibility.
  • Verify and report discrepancies by cross-referencing received items and quantities against packing lists to the Purchasing Manager.
  • Coordinate with Production to confirm the required material quantities during transfers to prevent discrepancies.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized material storage area.
  • Provide regular updates on inventory status and changes in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the material warehouse is kept clean and orderly.
  • Implement and uphold effective storage systems and routines to guarantee materials are well-managed and readily available.

2. Conduct daily forklift maintenance checks and communicate any immediate issues to the Shipping Associate.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Basic computer skills, including file management, word processing, and proficiency in Excel spreadsheets and databases.
  3. Exceptional organizational abilities.
  4. Flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced work environment.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills and time management capabilities to handle multiple tasks.
  6. Detail-oriented approach.
  7. Teamwork skills.
  8. Certified forklift operator.
  9. Ability to lift, pull, and push weights up to 50 lbs.
  10. Preferred experience in a manufacturing environment.
  11. Preferred experience in warehouse inventory management.
  12. Willingness to wear various types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  13. Availability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Completion of new hire orientation.
  • OSHA compliance training.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Training in handling and storing propane with the Shipping department.
  • Forklift maintenance check training.
