Job Title: Director of NICU

Job Overview:

The Director of NICU is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and staffing of the Level III NICU department. This leadership role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care by fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration. The Director is responsible for forecasting, planning, and budget monitoring while implementing evidence-based practices to improve efficiency, patient safety, and clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Leadership: Cultivate a superior clinical identity by identifying and implementing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Operational Management: Manage clinical practice variation to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost management.
  • Compliance and Accreditation: Ensure compliance with internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, legal and regulatory standards.
  • Patient Care: Oversee patient throughput, volume forecasting, and admission/discharge planning to ensure patient-centered care.
  • Care Coordination: Develop care coordination policies to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency in patient care.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Foster interdisciplinary communication and collaboration, ensuring staff have the appropriate clinical competencies.
  • Nursing Practice: Direct nursing practice and unit operations, ensuring policies and procedures align with patient and family care needs.
  • Leadership and Development: Provide leadership to ensure a positive and unparalleled patient experience. Participate in budget development, staffing plans, and resource allocation.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree or approved equivalent education required; BSN preferred. Masters Degree preferred.
  • Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas or compact licensure, in accordance with law and regulation.
  • Certifications: BLS certification required; ACLS preferred. NRP, FHM, and RNC-OB certifications preferred for L&D nurses.
