About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Practice Provider to join our Surgical Services team at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo. As an autonomous healthcare provider, you will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with acute and sub-acute illnesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including first-assisting in the operating room, pre-operative and post-operative patient care management, and emergency room coverage for consultation and initial interventions.
  • Facilitate patient preparation for admission and/or surgery, and respond to inpatient floor calls.
  • Communicate clinical issues to the attending physician on call and facilitate arrangements for admission, discharge, or intervention.
  • Participate in educational conferences and upgrade and maintain professional knowledge and skills related to the area of responsibility.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved and accredited Physician Assistant training program or Licensed RN in New York with a Masters Degree as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Valid certification by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) or Board certified by either AACN or AANP.
  • One (1) year of surgical experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a stressful situation, good verbal and written communication skills, and good mental and physical health.
Working Conditions

Subject to inside environmental conditions, must be able to work in a hectic environment making sound decisions at all times, and respond to surgical on-call emergencies.
