PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Citrus Processing Operator, you will be responsible for managing centrifuges and various oil room machinery to ensure the production of premium quality products in line with company standards. You will uphold safety protocols by strictly following established procedures and regulations. Additionally, you will maintain equipment functionality by executing preventive maintenance tasks, adhering to manufacturer guidelines, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating repairs as necessary. You will ensure smooth transitions between shifts by accurately documenting and communicating operational activities, discrepancies, and ongoing requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adjust water level settings for extractors.
  • Oversee and replace air-operated pumps as required.
  • Change finisher screens as needed.
  • Manage the processes of drumming, dumping, and refining oil.
  • Recover raw oil efficiently.
  • Operate separators and other centrifuge equipment.
  • Monitor machinery operations and report any irregularities to the supervisor.
  • Identify tools and their specific applications.
  • Maintain precise logs and records of operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments as necessary.
  • Assist supervisors and fellow operators as required.
  • Promote safe working practices.
  • Identify and manage parts inventory.
  • Utilize forklifts for the transportation of products, equipment, and supplies.
  • Conduct cleaning and sanitation of equipment to comply with GMP standards.
  • Assemble and disassemble equipment periodically for maintenance and cleaning.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
  • Report any unsafe conditions to the coordinator.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with relevant knowledge and skills as outlined below. Completion of vocational training or some college education is preferred.

TRAINING, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge and skills equivalent to high school completion are necessary. You should possess the ability to identify equipment issues, understand, record, and communicate product specifications and codes, and effectively communicate with colleagues. A forklift license is required, or you must be able to obtain one. Proficiency in computer operation and multitasking is essential, along with strong mathematical skills.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Operate additional equipment as needed. Learn various roles within the operational area. Engage in CCJ Safety and Quality initiatives.

EQUIPMENT USED

Familiarity with centrifuges, hoses, pneumatic and manual valves, large capacity tanks, a variety of standard and specialized hand tools, air-operated and motorized pumps, computers, forklifts, first aid supplies, and safety equipment such as harnesses, ladders, hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, hair nets, and beard nets is required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This position involves both indoor and outdoor work, requiring exposure to temperature variations, high noise levels, vibrations, moving machinery, and wet conditions. Work is conducted on rotating shifts.
