We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at the Veterinary Medical Center. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians and technicians in their daily tasks.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide compassionate care to all patients, including cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising, and grooming.
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with tasks such as restraining and handling patients, preparing and sanitizing surgery suites, and clerical and administrative work.
- Deliver quality care for all patients and provide exceptional service to clients.
- Perform laboratory tests, take radiographs, and operate and maintain hospital equipment.
- Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, and maintain proper documentation.
- Communicate effectively with clients and ensure they feel comfortable leaving their pets.
- Participate in continuing education and skill improvement to maintain current knowledge in the field.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One or more years' experience in a veterinary environment, preferably with surgical monitoring, radiology, dental prophylaxis, and client education.
- Vet Tech (VTNE) Certification preferred.
- Ability to restrain animals, fill prescriptions, and monitor sedation procedures.
- Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, and unpleasant odors.
This is a strenuous job that requires a lot of lifting, cleaning, and constant motion. May involve some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Some tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting or carrying moderately heavy animals (up to 50 pounds).
