The Patient Registration Coordinator plays a vital role in the healthcare process, overseeing check-in, preregistration, registration, preadmission, and admission procedures.
This position is essential for gathering accurate demographic information and ensuring compliance with various regulations, including CMS, government payors, commercial and third-party payors, EMTALA, and The Joint Commission standards. Responsibilities include verifying benefits, obtaining necessary signatures for treatment consent, collecting co-pays, and ensuring that all required documentation is completed and scanned into the medical record.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Collect and verify photo identification, insurance cards, and signed forms during the registration process.
- Manage and maintain system work queues efficiently.
- Handle telephone inquiries, faxing, scanning, and other administrative tasks as assigned by management.
- Collaborate with System Scheduling, Authorization, & Referrals to provide assistance as needed.
- Work closely with other departments to facilitate a smooth patient flow and optimize reimbursement for services rendered.
- Foster positive relationships within and between departments to enhance customer service.
- Adhere to the Mission, Vision, Values, and Philosophy of the organization.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
JOB DETAILS AND REQUIREMENTS
Type: Part Time (48 hours per 2-week pay period, with benefits)
Typical hours: 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM, with weekend and holiday rotation.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- Preferred two years of experience in a business, billing, or healthcare scheduling/registration/admissions environment.
- Proficiency in computer and software applications is essential.
- Must exhibit professionalism and courtesy in all communications with customers and staff.
- Demonstrate sound independent judgment in various situations.
