Production Technician

BHS Corrugated North America is seeking a skilled Production Technician - Corrugating Roll Specialist to join our team in Knoxville, TN.
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the installation, service, and inspection of NICE corrugating roll assemblies at customer sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong working understanding of corrugating roll theory and manufacturing, including assessment of TIR, coating condition, flute depth, flute profile, and steam system condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform incoming inspection and assessment of rolls and cassettes, including inventory, assessment, cleaning, and documentation.
- Assemble carts and rolls with associated hardware and plumbing, including bushing replacement, part refurbishment, and other procedures as required.
- Install bearings and races on outbound rolls per sales order requirements, wrap and pack rolls in caskets for shipment, and verify all parts are included.
- Perform pressure tests to identify potential system failures, such as leaks, cracks, or faulty steam fittings.
- Inspect rolls to ensure TIR, flute depth, and profile are within tolerance.
- Responsible for the installation and start-up of NICE corrugating rolls and cassettes at customer sites.
- Perform NICE roll inspections to determine roll condition, serviceability, and forecast remaining roll serviceability.
Requirements:
- Flexibility to travel up to 50% of the year, work weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Lifting and rigging: basic crane and rigging ability, including inspections of chains, slings, and hoist for serviceability.
- Forklift operation: safely operate forklift, perform pre-use inspection, and understand operating limits.
- Torch and tool operation: safely operate oxy acetylene torch and power and hand tools.
- Physical requirements: ability to stand for at least 45 minutes at a time and lift 35 pounds at waist level.
- Ability to use computers, SAP, and MS Office applications.
- At least 2 years of manufacturing or mechanical experience.
Benefits:
This is a full-time position offering $20-$28+/hour with potential OT at increased rates, dependent on level of qualification and status of travel.
