About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Physiatrist to join our team at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Amarillo Health Care System.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will work in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service, providing comprehensive care to patients with musculoskeletal and neuromuscular impairments. This role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement rehabilitation programs tailored to individual patient needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inpatient and outpatient examinations to determine diagnoses and initiate treatments that emphasize restoration of function.
  • Develop and lead comprehensive rehabilitation programs for patients with various conditions, including spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and amputations.
  • Collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care.
  • Prescribe and oversee the use of assistive devices, prosthetics, and durable medical equipment as needed.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

  • A Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a residency program in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
  • Board certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated expertise in rehabilitation medicine and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
