Compensation:
The annual salary for this position ranges from $36,000 to $40,000, depending on qualifications.
Work Schedule:
The anticipated work hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with potential adjustments as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide comprehensive customer service and information to DHS clients and the general public.
2. Address inquiries, manage complaints, and guide clients through the appointment process.
3. Assist clients with applications for services and offer general guidance on departmental programs.
4. Facilitate client interventions using various systems to resolve issues related to program areas.
5. Communicate effectively via phone and email with relevant personnel to support client needs.
6. Issue Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards and resolve related account issues.
7. Offer information on housing, rent rebates, and community agency referrals based on client requirements.
8. Manage incoming payments, issue receipts, and handle overpayment adjustments as directed.
9. Ensure quality control of client applications and maintain accurate records.
10. Diffuse challenging client interactions and manage lobby traffic during emergencies.
Supervision:
This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities and operates under direct supervision, following detailed instructions for tasks.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent education is required.
- A minimum of two years of customer service experience is necessary.
- An associate's degree or higher may substitute for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a human services agency is advantageous.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in using personal computers and Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong mathematical skills and the ability to learn multiple software applications.
- Capable of performing effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to interact with diverse clients.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of a background investigation and drug screening is mandatory.
