Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Genacross Lutheran Services. As an LPN, you will provide care for residents in our Health Center and act as a charge nurse for State Test Nurse Aides. This is a part-time night shift position, working 12-hour shifts from 7pm-7am.

Responsibilities
  • Provide primary direction to State Tested Nursing Assistants on assigned unit/floor/wing to ensure effective care is provided to residents.
  • Prepare and administer medications and treatments to residents. Perform assessments, including vitals, intakes, outputs, etc.
  • Perform direct care functions, assisting with ADLs and ensuring residents' spiritual, emotional, and physical needs are met.
  • Process physician's orders, labs, x-rays, etc., and seek clarification when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, pharmacists, family members, etc., to discuss ongoing care of residents.
  • Process new resident admissions and communicate admission information to department heads, as appropriate.
  • Complete paperwork, medical forms, charting, and all required documentation as part of the resident care process and transition of care process.
  • Assist in maintaining infection control program, policies, and procedures.
  • Report allegations of abuse/neglect and report, as appropriate, to proper organization leadership.
  • Report hazardous incidents, including but not limited to, injuries, equipment, etc., to the appropriate Manager/Supervisor.
  • Implement and follow disaster plans in the event of an emergency.
  • Participate in committees as assigned.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Current State of Ohio LPN License.
  • One to two years of experience in long-term care setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills.
  • Ability to learn new software applications as required by the position.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with senior executives, managers, supervisors, and direct care staff, as well as residents, families, and physicians.
  • Understands directions; communicates and responds to inquiries promptly.
