We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at Corewell Health. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing a variety of routine and specialized tests and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and complex chemical, hematologic, microscopic, morphologic immunologic, and/or microbiologic procedures using laboratory instruments or manual techniques.
- Apply advanced knowledge, training, and clinical judgment to release quality patient test results, evaluate instrument performance, and correlate results with other laboratory data and/or disease states.
- Standardize, calibrate, and perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Assist in the development and design of new test procedures and methodologies, and participate in the evaluation, correlation, and introduction of new instruments or procedures.
- Participate in the instruction of clinical laboratory science to students, residents, and new employees, and attend, participate in, and present department continuing education and in-service training programs.
- Participate in various quality assurance and regulatory agency activities in the department, including performance of proficiency testing, involvement in TQM/CQI committees, and developing and documenting quality assurance monitors.
- Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with 16 semester hours in biology and 16 semester hours in chemistry.
- Completion of a clinical laboratory approved or accredited program by NAACLS or at least three months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.
- Clinical internship proof of completion.
- Official ASCP BOC approval confirming eligibility to take the certification exam.
