Job Summary:The Security Specialist will be responsible for providing security services to our schools, including patrolling campuses, monitoring security cameras, and responding to emergencies. This is a district-wide assignment, and incumbents will be hired by the District Security Department and assigned to specific site locations.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain the safety and security of students and staff by providing high visibility throughout the school, intervening in verbal and physical encounters, and enforcing safe school policies.
- Monitor students during lunch hour, inside and outside of the building, and during off-hours.
- Assist site administrators in the investigation of illegal activity within the school, using security cameras and performing searches as necessary.
- Discuss and mediate infractions with students, provide written accounts of unacceptable behavior, and assist with disciplinary measures.
- Report unsafe conditions and potential health and safety hazards to administrators.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Security, law enforcement, or military experience.
- Minimum age of 21 years old.
- Attired in appropriate uniform as designated by the Director of Safety and Security.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
- Associate's degree.
- Experience working in a public school district.
- Experience with emergency response.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical, which includes jogging, weight lifting, and endurance.
- Extremely heavy physical effort (lifting over 50 pounds).
- Prolonged standing/walking.
- Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and climbing.
