Job Summary:

The Security Specialist will be responsible for providing security services to our schools, including patrolling campuses, monitoring security cameras, and responding to emergencies. This is a district-wide assignment, and incumbents will be hired by the District Security Department and assigned to specific site locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the safety and security of students and staff by providing high visibility throughout the school, intervening in verbal and physical encounters, and enforcing safe school policies.
  • Monitor students during lunch hour, inside and outside of the building, and during off-hours.
  • Assist site administrators in the investigation of illegal activity within the school, using security cameras and performing searches as necessary.
  • Discuss and mediate infractions with students, provide written accounts of unacceptable behavior, and assist with disciplinary measures.
  • Report unsafe conditions and potential health and safety hazards to administrators.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Security, law enforcement, or military experience.
  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • Attired in appropriate uniform as designated by the Director of Safety and Security.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree.
  • Experience working in a public school district.
  • Experience with emergency response.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, which includes jogging, weight lifting, and endurance.
  • Extremely heavy physical effort (lifting over 50 pounds).
  • Prolonged standing/walking.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and climbing.
