Behavioral Health Specialist

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Clinician to join our team. As an extension of the psychiatric provider, you will work collaboratively with the behavioral health team, medical team, and community stakeholders to provide high-quality care to patients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop treatment plans to monitor patient progress towards treatment goals.
- Work independently to apply knowledge of diagnostic criteria to evaluate and recommend appropriate level of care for behavioral health patients.
- Collaborate with the behavioral health team and medical team to provide crisis de-escalation and facilitate patient-centered, trauma-informed brief individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy within the acute care setting.
- Initiate coordination of discharge and aftercare services as needed.
- Master's Degree in Human Services (i.e., Social Work, Professional Counseling, etc.) required.
- Licensed as a LGPC or LMSW in the state of Maryland required.
- One (1) year previous experience working with individuals with acute and chronic mental illness in an acute care psychiatric setting preferred.
