Position Overview: MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society is seeking a qualified Neurologist with specialized training and board certification in Sleep Medicine. This role involves providing a mix of telehealth services and in-person consultations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and manage a variety of sleep disorders, including but not limited to sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and restless legs syndrome.
  • Prescribe and adjust positive airway pressure (PAP) settings, and manage all aspects of PAP therapy.
  • Interpret home and laboratory sleep studies, as well as sleep oximetry.
  • Utilize telemedicine platforms for patient consultations across multiple locations.
  • Participate in inpatient telemedicine consultations and outpatient sleep clinic operations.
  • Provide periodic on-call telemedicine coverage in general neurology.

Work Schedule: This position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with on-call duties conducted via telehealth during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Benefits: The position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • 26 days of paid vacation, accruing at a rate of 1 day per pay period.
  • 13 days of sick leave, accruing at a rate of 1/2 day per pay period, with no cap.
  • 10 paid Federal holidays.
  • Competitive salary and malpractice coverage.
  • Annual performance pay potential of up to $15,000.
  • Continuing Medical Education (CME) support, including 1 week of paid absence and a stipend for CME expenses after one year of employment.

Incentives: Eligible candidates may benefit from the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which provides up to $200,000 in tax-free assistance over five years, along with potential recruitment incentives.

Candidate Requirements: Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Alien status.
  • Board Eligible/Certified in Neurology.
  • Possess a full, unrestricted medical license in any state.
  • Confirm vaccination for seasonal influenza and COVID-19, as required for all healthcare personnel.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Veterans Affairs systems and a strong background in both general neurology and sleep medicine, particularly in managing PAP therapy and interpreting sleep studies.
