Position Overview:


The Credit Risk Strategist I is responsible for the formulation, execution, and validation of diverse risk segmentation strategies, including but not limited to: adjudication, account oversight, exposure management, risk categorization, and financial return enhancement.

This role provides essential insights, interpretative analysis, and deploys strategic credit risk methodologies that ensure decisions align with TD's risk appetite and comply with all regulatory requirements.

The primary responsibility of the Credit Risk Strategist I is to deliver a comprehensive and varied range of risk management expertise.

The Credit Risk Strategist I examines, develops, implements, and validates various risk segmentation strategies and policies utilizing complex data, advanced analytical techniques, and business intelligence tools.

This position will lead the acquisition credit strategies encompassing underwriting, line assignment, and targeting for the US bankcard portfolio, supporting growth within a risk-reward framework.


Scope of Responsibilities:
Exhibits governance, control, and risk management practices in accordance with TD policies and procedures.

Leads or participates in the identification, development, and execution of new initiatives, operational workflows, additional services/applications, or efficiency improvements, potentially leading special project teams or cross-functional workgroups.

Assists in enhancing credit risk assessment capabilities to identify and sustain valuable business opportunities with both new and existing clients.

Conducts detailed analyses and interprets data to provide recommendations to Senior Management on critical strategies, including non-standard and ad-hoc requests as determined by management.

Generates reports on the outcomes of implemented strategies, employing all relevant quantitative methods and Management Information Systems (MIS), and makes recommendations to enhance efficiencies and revenue while managing credit risk, producing these reports regularly.

Collaborates effectively with teams outside of the risk department.

Works with Internal Audit and External Regulators to ensure that documentation for all work processes is comprehensive and current.

Ensures sound credit control by adopting a proactive approach to risk management within the bank's risk guidelines.

Facilitates timely communication of pertinent issues to the team and fosters positive relationships with other internal and external groups.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; Graduate degree preferred.

5+ years of relevant experience required.

Familiarity with various analytical tools such as SAS, Python, R, and Knowledge Seeker preferred.

Proficient in PC skills, particularly in MS Excel and PowerPoint, along with a variety of analytical and reporting software.

Experience with Relational Databases and the Extract Transform Load (ETL) process using common languages such as SQL or SAS.

Knowledge of various analytical or reporting tools, including SAS, R, Matlab, Tableau, etc.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential for interpreting data and drawing conclusions.

Experience in data modeling and risk management from a business administration, statistical, mathematical, scientific, or financial background.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experienced in developing and presenting recommendations to Senior Management.
