Qualifications: Must possess a valid teaching license in Tennessee with the necessary endorsements for instructing students from preschool through sixth grade or relevant specialty endorsements for the position applied for.

Punctuality and consistent attendance are essential.
Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to see, hear, and respond swiftly to ensure the safety and instructional needs of students. Clear articulation is necessary. The role demands physical activity throughout the school day, including standing for extended periods, bending, light lifting, pushing, pulling, and maintaining good finger dexterity. Emotional resilience is required for managing student behavior. The individual may encounter environmental odors and substances typical in educational settings. Exposure to bodily fluids may occur, necessitating adherence to universal precautions. The ability to assist students with personal needs, including toileting, is required.
Core Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver instruction that fosters student achievement and self-esteem. Additional duties include:
- Contributing to the effective operation of the school and district programs.
- Representing the school system and profession positively to parents and the community.
- Adhering to the locally adopted curriculum guidelines for the subjects taught.
- Accommodating diverse learning styles and developmental levels within the classroom.
- Managing student behavior to enhance learning and self-esteem.
- Planning, preparing, teaching, assessing, and adjusting instruction to ensure documented student achievement.
- Participating in school and district-sponsored events (e.g., parent clubs, fundraising, field trips, extracurricular activities).
- Consulting with parents, colleagues, and relevant agencies regarding student achievement, behavior, and development.
- Serving on committees for study, planning, and advisory purposes as assigned.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records, including ongoing progress documentation.
- Attending mandatory meetings and completing required reports promptly.
- Staying informed about current trends in education and maintaining an adaptable approach to implementing new ideas in the classroom.
- Complying with applicable local, state, and federal regulations and policies.
Employment Terms: 200 days. Salary and benefits determined annually by the Board. Exempt position.
