About the Opportunity

This is an open position at Fort Martin Power Station with Mon Power, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer will report to the Manager of Technical Services and is responsible for monitoring the condition of the generation electrical equipment while providing operational and maintenance support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recognize risks and take precautions to ensure a safe work environment for others and self.
  • Investigate and resolve system malfunctions and conduct root cause analysis on related derates and forced outages.
  • Develop graphic displays and analyze control issues using diagnostic tools and features.
  • Serve as station contact/coordinator for NERC compliance, Critical Infrastructure Protection, alarm management, and testing of station protective devices.
  • Advise and assist technician-level employees with configuration, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with development of technicians through personal oversight and recommending training opportunities.
  • Lead upgrades and system improvements to resolve operation and maintenance issues with control systems.
  • Assess operating condition and develop plans for continued health and operation.
  • Prepare financial justifications, budgeting, schedule performance, and documentation of projects.
  • Coordinate activities of other technical services personnel and represent and report on issues for the assigned area.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited school is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' engineering experience is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in DCS and PLC areas.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in programming and configuring logic.
  • Familiar with networks and network protocols and security issues.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and relevant standards.
