Job Overview

CareWell Urgent Care is in search of a reliable full-time Medical Assistant or EMT-Basic for our advanced urgent care facility.

Our centers operate seven days a week from 8 AM to 8 PM. Full-time roles require availability for three 12-hour shifts weekly, including alternating weekends.

Position Summary

Under the guidance of the clinical provider, the Medical Assistant's responsibilities encompass recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examinations, performing IV/Blood draws, conducting ECGs, and assisting with diagnostic testing and wound care as directed by the physician.

Key Responsibilities

Medical Assistant / EMT duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Setting up examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
  • Gathering patient histories and vital signs.
  • Preparing patients for examinations and treatments.
  • Applying splints and dressings, and maintaining supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
  • Assisting physicians in minor surgeries and physical examinations.
  • Performing phlebotomy and managing laboratory paperwork.
  • Dispensing medications as instructed.
  • Educating patients on discharge instructions when applicable.
  • Addressing patient concerns within the scope of the role.
  • Providing necessary information and assistance.
Administrative Duties
  • Ensuring accurate and timely documentation for staff and insurance purposes.
  • Maintaining patient records for clinical, billing, and review purposes.
  • Documenting patient files and forms as required.
  • Assisting with scheduling tests and treatments.
  • Screening phone calls for physician referrals.
  • Managing clinical and office supplies and equipment.
  • Completing opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintaining a neat and organized work area.

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-5 years of experience as an MA/EMT, with relevant certification.
Work Environment

This role is based in a medical office setting, with potential exposure to communicable diseases and other clinical conditions.

Physical Requirements

The position requires a full range of motion, including manual dexterity and coordination. Candidates should be able to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Position Type

This is an hourly, non-exempt position, with hours varying based on part-time or full-time status.
