Key Responsibilities- Review and analyze clinical documentation to assign accurate ICD-10 CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Verify diagnostic procedural codes using ICD-10 CPT and HCPCS coding classifications
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to ensure proper coding and reimbursement
- Identify and assign chargeable items within progress notes
- Apply sequencing guidelines for diagnosis codes and selection of principal diagnosis and procedure
- Track and manage open/close encounter reports
- Organize and prioritize work to meet departmental deadlines
- Maintain knowledge of anatomy and physiology to interpret medical classifications
- Act as an expert resource for coding questions and issues
- Zero to one year of medical coding experience with CPC-A certification
- One year of medical coding experience with CPC or CCS certification
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Certifications from AAPC or AHIMA
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficient in typing and computer software systems
This is a hybrid role with a minimum expectation of attending on-site quarterly meetings. The incumbent will be expected to work remotely with occasional on-site presence.
