Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze clinical documentation to assign accurate ICD-10 CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes
  • Verify diagnostic procedural codes using ICD-10 CPT and HCPCS coding classifications
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to ensure proper coding and reimbursement
  • Identify and assign chargeable items within progress notes
  • Apply sequencing guidelines for diagnosis codes and selection of principal diagnosis and procedure
  • Track and manage open/close encounter reports
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet departmental deadlines
  • Maintain knowledge of anatomy and physiology to interpret medical classifications
  • Act as an expert resource for coding questions and issues
Requirements
  • Zero to one year of medical coding experience with CPC-A certification
  • One year of medical coding experience with CPC or CCS certification
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Certifications from AAPC or AHIMA
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proficient in typing and computer software systems
Working Conditions

This is a hybrid role with a minimum expectation of attending on-site quarterly meetings. The incumbent will be expected to work remotely with occasional on-site presence.
