Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Tax Supervisor to join our growing and well-established national firm. The position requires a high-energy, experienced professional, with strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the preparation of documentation and work papers to support tax reporting for federal, state, and foreign taxes.
  • Train staff on industry-specific business and accounting matters.

  • Prepare and review moderately complex returns prepared by others, identifying issues, errors, omissions, and planning opportunities.
  • Complete research on highly complex tax matters, demonstrating thorough knowledge of the problems, issues, and best solutions in the circumstances.
  • Manage people and functions through coaching, decision making, problem solving, strategy & planning, delegation, leadership, and team building.
  • Provide tax advisory services to clients.
  • Communicate engagement needs to clients.
  • Recognize extended services opportunities.
  • Stay current on professional announcements.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, such as mentoring programs.
  • Present on technical topics for level training.
  • Cultivate effective relationships with clients and staff.
  • Make a positive impression with clients by exhibiting professional competency and ability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university (minimum of 150 college credits required).
  • Masters in Taxation is a plus.
  • CPA certification or completion of the CPA exam within a year preferred.
  • 4+ years of relevant public accounting experience preferred; experience in tax provision a plus.
  • Strong technical skills pertaining to tax preparation and review, tax compliance, agency correspondence, and tax research.
  • Strong communication, research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Proven technical skills with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Basic technology skills with proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Working knowledge and experience with ProSystem FX Engagement Tax, CCH Axcess, BNA Online, Sureprep, and Go File Room are a plus.
  • Solid organization skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task.
  • Effective time management, organizational, and analytical abilities.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state tax compliance.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and auditing/tax standards to effectively supervise staff and solve routine engagement problems.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team; able to meet deadlines with accuracy.
  • This position requires being able to work in the office a minimum of three days per week.
