About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Mass General Brigham in Cambridge, MA.

As a Mental Health Specialist, you will provide direct patient care and participate in therapeutic milieu under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about mental health and want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care, including accurate and timely documentation of AFS, progress notes, and observation sheets.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients, maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Participate in patient rounds or teams, complete patient care assignments, and identify patient behaviors that contribute to crisis situations.
  • Utilize non-verbal and verbal techniques to de-escalate crisis situations, intervene in managing complex patient situations, and promote the least restrictive alternatives.
  • Communicate changes in patient status to RNs, follow Standards of Care and protocols for assigned patients, and remain awake and alert at all times while on the job.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field; Associate's degree may be considered with relevant experience.
  • Current licensure as an RN in Massachusetts (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • At least one year of experience in a psychiatric setting; prefer two years of college plus one year of clinical experience.
