Responsibilities:


The Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering safe and effective patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

This position involves providing direct patient care within the defined scope of practice.

The Registered Nurse will also lead and educate patients and their families while overseeing the activities of other nursing staff, ensuring adherence to professional nursing standards in the Emergency Department.

The Registered Nurse is accountable for the care provided to patients in the emergency setting.

Effective communication with physicians regarding changes in patients' clinical conditions, including diagnostic results and symptoms, is essential.

The Registered Nurse must be adept at responding promptly and accurately to any changes in patient conditions or treatment responses, while being knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and the reporting of suspected abuse to appropriate authorities. Patient privacy and confidentiality must be maintained at all times.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and ongoing maintenance.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and ongoing maintenance.
  • Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Completion of Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of hire is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting; experience in an emergency room is preferred.
  • Certification as an Emergency Nurse (CEN) is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Specific facility requirements may apply, including:

For Paramedic Base Station ED:
MICN certification within 12 months of hire and ongoing maintenance.

For EDAP certified facilities:
Completion of emergency pediatric courses 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.

For Non-OB facilities:
NRP (AHA) certification within 90 days of hire and ongoing maintenance.
