We are seeking a highly skilled Structure Representative to support our work across California. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical and administrative control of structure elements on locally administered projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with construction contract requirements and shop drawings prepared by contractors.
  • Perform calculations and acceptance of temporary structures used in bridge and structure construction, including falsework, temporary shoring, working platforms, and temporary supports.
  • Verify field dimensions, including vertical and horizontal field control for structures.
  • Review submittals, including shop drawings, product data, samples, test samples, and QA plans submitted by contractors.
  • Verify compliance with applicable regulations controlling work, including CAL/OSHA and SWPPP.
  • Inspect construction progress, ensuring procedures and materials comply with specifications and observing work in progress to assure conformance with requirements and acceptable workmanship.
  • Prepare reports, opinions, and recommendations for review by team leaders prior to submission to clients concerning structures.
  • Ensure conformance with standards, established engineering practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with heavy civil transportation projects, including bridge and/or structural construction.
  • Caltrans construction methods and practices, minimum of 5 years' experience.
  • Relevant past work experience performing field engineering tasks of increasing responsibility.
  • Knowledge of stress analysis, structural mechanics, and strength of materials.
  • A thorough understanding of Cal-OSHA practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Caltrans and Greenbook construction practices and the physical characteristics and properties of various bridge construction materials, including concrete.
  • Experience in the following areas: foundations, pile driving, and CIDH piles, concrete prestressing, bridge deck construction, cast-in-place wall construction, falsework, and shoring.
  • Ability to use an automatic level and transit for the purpose of verifying line and grade.
  • Thorough understanding of Caltrans field methods, practices, and construction office procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Business Development experience.
  • Local agency and rail experience.
  • Storm water Pollution and Prevention Plan implementation.
  • Multi-discipline and agency coordination.

NV5 offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including medical, dental, life insurance, PTO, 401(k), and professional development/advancement opportunities. The pay range for this California position is $150,000.00-$200,000 per year. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
