Job Summary / Purpose:
The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for executing routine maintenance tasks, which include rough carpentry, painting, and basic repairs of equipment or facilities. All carpentry, electrical, or simple plumbing repairs are conducted under the guidance of qualified personnel.

Essential Key Job

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct repairs and maintenance on machinery, mechanical equipment, refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, and control systems, adhering to diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications, utilizing hand and power tools as well as precision measuring and testing instruments.

2. Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs and maintenance activities.

3. Observe the operation of mechanical devices (such as pumps, engines, compressors, motors, conveyor systems, and laboratory equipment) or control systems, making necessary adjustments to functional parts and control instruments.

4. Prepare surfaces for painting and finishing; apply undercoats and finish coats; mix and match paints and finishes as required.

5. Construct cabinets, shelves, and specialty items for various departments, using provided blueprints or self-generated sketches, including work with plastics and plastic laminates.

6. Perform general repairs to the facility, including furniture systems, room fixtures, and associated equipment.

7. Design and code keying systems for individual departments, as well as repair and cut keys.

8. Be prepared to work extended hours in case of emergencies.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience

Education:
High School Diploma or GED

Experience:
Two (2) years of relevant experience

Required Licensure and Certifications:
Valid Driver License

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training:
Basic knowledge of carpentry and mechanical systems. Proficiency in the correct use of chemicals, supplies, and tools assigned. Computer literacy is essential. Must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). Physical capabilities include lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, and squatting.
