Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Prevea Health. As a key member of our eye care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support to our ophthalmologists and optometrists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and stock all rooms to ensure a clean and efficient work environment
  • Clean and maintain instruments to the highest standards
  • Order and manage supplies to meet the needs of our eye care team
  • Prepare patients for appointments and procedures, including patient education and preparation for surgery
  • Order and dispense contact lenses as needed
  • Triage patient phone calls and communicate with providers as necessary
  • Perform patient exams and diagnostic tests, including visual field testing and OCT scans
  • Install eye drops and prepare patients for minor in-office surgery and laser procedures
  • Assist with scheduling patients and communicating with hospitals and other offices as directed by providers
  • Room patients and assist with procedures as needed
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduation from an accredited program for ophthalmic assistant or technician preferred but not required
  • 3-5 years experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a clinical setting required
Skills and Abilities
  • Patient history taking and triage skills
  • Ability to perform lensometry and neutralize patients' glasses
  • Ability to perform diagnostic tests such as visual field testing and OCT scans
  • Ability to perform keratometry and basic tonometry
  • Ability to evaluate ocular motility and perform retinoscopy
  • Ability to perform fundus photography and A-scan measurements
  • Ability to prepare lasers for physicians and assist with interoffice surgical procedures
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies as needed
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with providers and patients
