Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician

Join Prevea Health, a leading healthcare organization, as an Ophthalmic Technician. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing exceptional eye care services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and stock all examination rooms
  • Clean and maintain instruments and equipment
  • Order and manage supplies
  • Prepare patients for ophthalmologist appointments, including patient education and procedure preparation
  • Order and dispense contact lenses
  • Triage patient phone calls and communicate with providers
  • Perform patient exams and diagnostic tests
  • Install eye drops and prepare patients for minor in-office surgery and laser procedures
  • Assist with scheduling and communicate with hospitals and other offices as directed
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduation from an accredited program for ophthalmic assistant or technician preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a clinical setting required
Skills and Abilities:
  • Patient history taking and triage
  • Ability to perform lensometry, neutralize patients' glasses, and perform diagnostic tests
  • Knowledge of ocular anatomy, systemic diseases, and their impact on eyes
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and clinical optics
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push/pull equipment and supplies
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with providers and patients
