Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Technician II to join our team. As a Psychiatric Technician II, you will work directly with individuals experiencing homelessness, providing essential mental health services and support. Your expertise and dedication will play a critical role in helping our clients achieve stability and independence.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct and indirect patient care, including helping clients with personal hygiene and grooming.
- Observe, evaluate, record, and report changes in client condition to professional staff.
- Take and record measures of client physical condition, such as pulse, temperature, respiration, weight, and body mass index.
- Prepare appropriate forms in connection with emergency calls, evaluation of client condition, and maintenance of client records.
- Implement de-escalation procedures and techniques and aid or restrain clients to prevent injury to themselves or others.
- Participate in planning, executing, and documenting interventions related to client care plans.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team conferences to share pertinent client information and collaborate with other mental health staff to develop and manage effective treatment plans.
- Provide direct client care, complete required documentation, update treatment teams regarding client progress, and provide client, family members, and significant others with referrals and linkage to community resources.
- Administer prescribed medications to clients in acute psychiatric settings.
- Serve as mental health service gatekeeper at the mental health ACCESS and Telecommunication Center, performing triage on caller requests for service, referring callers to appropriate treatment sources, and/or dispatching mobile response teams or ambulances.
- Prepare and sign applications for immediate 72-hour detention of disturbed psychiatric clients if designated by the Office of Medical Director, as needed.
- Coordinate all activities of the Psychiatric Mobile Response Team and Clinical Behavioral Management Response Team, including staff coverage and coordination of team services with law enforcement agencies, as needed.
- One year of experience assisting mental health professionals in the delivery of preventative, therapeutic, and rehabilitative psychiatric services to emotionally disturbed or mentally ill clients at the level of Psychiatric Technician I.
- Possession of a current, active, and unrestricted California State License to practice as a Psychiatric Technician.
- Some positions in this classification, depending on assignment, require possession of a valid California Class C Driver License to perform job-related essential functions.
