Psychiatric Technician II Correctional Health

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Psychiatric Technician II to join our team at the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. As a key member of our correctional health services team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality mental health services to our clients in a jail environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct and indirect patient care to clients who are mentally ill or emotionally disturbed.
- Observe, evaluate, record, and report changes in client condition.
- Implement de-escalation procedures and techniques to prevent injury to clients or others.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team conferences to share client information and collaborate with other mental health staff to develop and manage effective treatment plans.
- Administer prescribed medications to clients in acute psychiatric settings.
- Prepare and sign applications for immediate 72-hour detention of disturbed psychiatric clients.
- Coordinate activities of the Psychiatric Mobile Response Team and Clinical Behavioral Management Response Team.
- One year of post-license experience assisting mental health professionals in the delivery of preventative, therapeutic, and rehabilitative psychiatric services to emotionally disturbed or mentally ill clients at the level of Psychiatric Technician I.
- A valid and active license as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.
- A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
This position requires working in a jail environment, providing services to inmate patients. The successful candidate must be willing to work any shift and at any correctional facility, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
