Job Overview

This role involves responsible supervisory, administrative, and clinical functions, overseeing the daily operations of a segment within the Radiology department dedicated to delivering radiological services. The position may involve specialized imaging procedures in diagnostic and interventional radiography. There are two distinct types of assignments in this level of positions:

Specialized Imaging Assignments:
In this capacity, the individual will perform tasks associated with Assignment Levels I and II, focusing on specialized procedures in Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or Mammography, while also undertaking additional relevant responsibilities.

Supervisory Assignments:
In addition to executing lower-level duties at a more complex and responsible level, the following tasks are expected:
1. Oversee the provision of radiological services in alignment with established standards and protocols for the designated service area or unit.
2. Propose enhancements and improvements regarding the delivery of radiological services.
3. Engage in the creation of training programs for radiographic personnel, ancillary staff, and allied health professionals, demonstrating new or updated techniques, procedures, and equipment.
4. Perform radiologic procedures as necessary.
5. Conduct special procedures, including diagnostic and interventional radiography (e.g., C.T., M.R.I., and Mammography).
6. Recommend personnel assignments to ensure coordination of activities within the department and represent the department in interdepartmental operations and meetings.
7. Participate in quality assurance initiatives, including the management and maintenance of technical equipment.
8. Assist in the procurement and storage of supplies, making recommendations regarding equipment and supply needs.
9. Engage in research and special projects aimed at evaluating equipment and service delivery.
10. May temporarily assume the responsibilities of the immediate Supervisor in their absence.

Minimum Qualifications
1. For Supervisory Assignments: A valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH, along with two years of experience in Radiologic Technology, including one year in a supervisory role.
2. For Specialized Imaging Assignments: A valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH, and possession of a current advanced level certification for performing these procedures.

Department Preferences

Certification in CT by ARRT
Certification in Injection Contrast Media by DOH

Radiologic Technologists in Assignment Levels II and III will receive a differential of $7,500 annually for cross-training in various modalities of radiologic imaging and for being cross-assigned to different imaging settings based on patient volume and staffing requirements, along with an additional $2,000 annually for Contrast Dye Injection certification.
