The Office of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman is committed to safeguarding the rights and welfare of individuals residing in nursing homes and adult care facilities. We are in search of a Volunteer Coordinator to enhance our outreach efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach initiatives and educational programs to elevate awareness of issues impacting older adults and to attract volunteers.
- Provide guidance to potential volunteers by sharing information about the Ombudsman program and assisting them throughout the application process.
- Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers, ensuring they are adequately prepared to advocate for residents in long-term care.
- Oversee volunteer activities, training sessions, and certification processes in accordance with program standards.
- Maintain comprehensive records and documentation of volunteer recruitment and program activities.
- Participate in facility surveys and meetings as necessary to uphold the rights of residents.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's degree is preferred.
- Experience in community outreach and engagement with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to travel independently.
