Reporting to the Health and Wellness Director (RN), this position is a salaried, exempt role responsible for the strategic design, development, and management of the Alcohol and Other Drugs of Abuse Prevention/Intervention Program. This role emphasizes a continuous commitment to equipping young individuals for successful employment by exemplifying, mentoring, and overseeing excellence in the eight Career Success Standards: workplace relations and ethics; information management; communications; multicultural awareness; personal growth and development; career and personal planning; interpersonal skills; and independent living.
Key Responsibilities:
Uphold and exemplify the core values and operational principles of Eckerd Connects. Develop, implement, and oversee all initiatives related to substance use and abuse prevention and intervention in collaboration with the Mental Health Consultant, Health Services staff, center physician, and Center Director. Coordinate all initiatives aimed at reducing and eliminating substance use and abuse while adhering to the Department of Labor/Job Corps guidelines. Facilitate in-service training sessions for both staff and students covering all aspects related to substance use and abuse. Provide recommendations to the Center Director regarding medical terminations related to substance misuse and abuse in conjunction with the Mental Health Consultant, center physician, and Health and Wellness Director (RN). Serve as a liaison between the center and agency resource and referral contacts. Monitor the behavior and progress of students participating in the Alcohol and Other Drugs of Abuse Prevention/Intervention Program. Maintain confidential documentation and records for all referrals and cases. Prepare and submit necessary reports as required. Attend mandatory staff training sessions. Clearly communicate and consistently model appropriate CSS and employability skills, including personal responsibility and computer proficiency. Ensure accountability of staff, students, and property while adhering to safety practices in all areas of responsibility. Foster and maintain a center environment that is free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, providing a safe space for staff and students to work and learn. Perform additional duties as assigned.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by an individual in this role. Education and Experience Requirements:
Active, unrestricted substance abuse license or certification that meets the minimum state licensing or certification requirements to practice in the state where the center is located. Preferred one year of relevant work experience. Preferred experience working with youth populations. Preferred Master's degree and prior experience with disadvantaged youth, particularly in a residential context. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is preferred.Additional Requirements:
Comprehensive knowledge of counseling techniques. Familiarity with alcohol and other drugs of abuse intervention programs. Ability to design, develop, and implement programs related to alcohol and other drugs of abuse and interventions. Training skills in both individual and group counseling methodologies. Strong organizational skills. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to effectively communicate and relate to the trainee population. Position requires proficiency in operating office equipment. Computer proficiency is required. Additionally, an individual must be able to collaborate with team members and maintain effective working relationships with all facility staff and departments.Eckerd Connects is an equal opportunity employer.
