The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is in search of a Psychiatrist to join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary clinical team. This role involves providing expert consultation to Primary Care Medical Providers (PCMPs) and Behavioral Health Providers (BHPs) at both Master's and Doctoral levels, alongside delivering long-term psychiatric care. The psychiatrist will utilize methodologies such as harm reduction and motivational interviewing to effectively engage individuals experiencing homelessness and those at risk, ensuring cultural sensitivity and respect.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with an integrated health care team, including case managers, outreach personnel, and specialists in behavioral health, primary care, and addiction medicine.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of programming that integrates psychiatric services across various health care clinics.
- Provide psychiatric care during primarily daytime clinical hours.
- Engage in educational opportunities for students and residents.
Important Note: To guarantee optimal care for our clients, the selected candidate must complete an internal credentialing and privileging process prior to commencing work. The timeline for this process is contingent upon the timely submission of necessary documents.

Essential Job Functions:
- Deliver direct psychiatric care, including initial evaluations and follow-up appointments.
- Consult with BHPs to provide both telephonic and in-person support to PCMPs.
- Offer urgent and crisis intervention for individuals with severe mental health conditions.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments in line with DSM5 and/or ICD10, considering the patient's socioeconomic status and housing situation.
- Formulate treatment recommendations addressing both mental health and substance use disorders.
- Create personalized treatment plans tailored to the patient's objectives.
- Coordinate care with other providers, both within the organization and external agencies.
- Assess psychiatric disability status and prepare necessary documentation for benefit applications.
- Participate in safety assessments and facilitate necessary transfers to inpatient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of clinical services in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Supervise and collaborate with Nurse Practitioner staff, providing guidance on complex cases.
- Adhere to HIPAA and APA standards regarding patient confidentiality.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Medical Degree or Doctor of Osteopathy from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a psychiatric residency from an ACGME accredited program.
- Current board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
- Active DEA license.
- Experience working with individuals in poverty, particularly those who are or have been homeless.
- Preferred experience in an integrated care setting.
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
