This role involves collaboration with safety officers and maintenance personnel to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards during the planning and execution of physical plant maintenance and renovation projects.
Key responsibilities include overseeing project reviews from inception to completion, developing training programs on code compliance, and conducting inspections to ensure contractor adherence to safety regulations. The position operates under general supervision, allowing for independent judgment and initiative.
Core Responsibilities:
Regular attendance and adherence to agency policies are essential, along with performing additional duties as assigned.
Manage and monitor code violations, assist in drafting written responses, and evaluate correction plans to ensure compliance with life/safety standards as mandated by regulatory agencies.
(25%)Oversee project designs to verify that plans meet life/safety requirements and comply with external regulatory interpretations.
(20%)Assist in the oversight and evaluation of capital construction projects related to life/safety issues, ensuring compliance during construction and upon project completion, including necessary system testing. (15%)
Effectively communicate code requirements to architects, engineers, and contractors, clarifying the applicability of codes to facility operations.
(15%)Provide training on the interpretation and enforcement of relevant codes and standards to facility staff.
(15%)Conduct assessments of existing conditions in state-supported living centers and hospitals to identify potential code violations.
(5%)Undertake additional responsibilities as required for special departmental projects. (5%)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Comprehensive understanding of project management principles related to life/safety codes in healthcare or long-term care settings, as well as the procedures for evaluating third-party vendor plans and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Proficiency in project monitoring, addressing changes in building systems, and utilizing relevant software applications.
Ability to effectively manage project activities, establish clear goals, exercise sound judgment in decision-making, analyze complex information, and communicate findings clearly.
