Job Summary:
The Texas Department of Public Safety is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading complex projects and programs, utilizing project management theories and methodologies to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct, develop, oversee, and evaluate multiple projects and programs using accepted project management methodologies.
- Coordinate large or complex projects that impact multiple areas within the department and external customers.
- Conduct process evaluations, gap analyses, and improved process/target state development to achieve efficient, effective, and quality operations and services.
- Develop, implement, and communicate project methodology and process to appropriate personnel.
- Monitor project activities to ensure deliverables are acceptable, meet contractual requirements, and are completed within timeline and budget.
- Initiate enterprise-level projects, coordinate with portfolio project manager and division team to plan project and ensure appropriate resources and expectations are established.
- May contribute to division's roadmap for enterprise project planning.
- Identify strategic opportunities for enterprise-level project management needed and communicate with division leadership.
- Participate in other division work areas and provide expert planning resources for other division activities.
- Provide education and training to other divisions to grow project management competency and expertise throughout the department.
- Direct, assign, and evaluate work of project staff/teams.
- Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree. Major in Project Management, Information Technology, Business Management, Communication, or related field preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years' experience leading projects, utilizing project management theories, leading teams, managing budgets, implementing and managing programs, business processes or other technology or law enforcement efforts.
- Project Management, Agile/Scrum, Process Improvement, Quality Management, or Business Analysis related certification is preferred.
- Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems (e.g. CAPPS, SharePoint) and be able to learn new software/systems.
- Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy, and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers.

State of Texas Benefits and Retirement Information:
A DPS employee who is selected for a position in the same salary group and state title as their current position will be transferred with no salary change.
A DPS employee who is selected for a position in their current salary group with a new state title may receive an increase of no more than 3.4% over their current salary regardless of posted salary.
Salary is contingent upon qualifications and is subject to salary administration and budgetary restrictions.
