Job Title: Librarian

The National WWII Museum is seeking a highly skilled Librarian to join its Collections & Exhibits department. As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Museum's growing collection of personal memoirs, biographies, unit histories, and scholarly literature about World War II.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain intellectual and physical control of the Library collection in accordance with best practices and accreditation standards.
  • Shape the Library collection, acting as the point person for the selection and purchase of reference books and research materials.
  • Oversee cataloging and maintain standards for Library collections.
  • Administer and maintain the Library database, OCLC Worldshare Management Services (WMS).
Requirements:
  • Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree required.
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience working in a library with increasing responsibilities required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of library acquisition, cataloging and reference services required.
  • General knowledge of World War II era history is required.
  • Proficiency in library management databases, WMS preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to lift, carry and place library materials on shelves, including overhead, up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 12 feet.
