About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems USA. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for our ICBM program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical systems for the ICBM program, including steam systems, hydraulic systems, and pumping/piping systems.
  • Work with a multi-discipline engineering team to perform plant and project engineering, including selecting construction materials and methods, writing specifications, and supervising and preparing mechanical drawings.
  • Perform mechanical engineering analyses, including pipe stress analysis using Caesar II.
  • Conduct inspections of existing facilities to determine their integrity and safety, and make recommendations for any needed modifications.
  • Support the development of plans and schedules for the construction phase of projects, ensuring that materials, equipment, and personnel will be available to meet project schedules.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 6 years of technical experience in industrial design and construction, with an emphasis in structural engineering.
  • Broad mechanical engineering experience in at least one of the following areas: tank and vessel design, machine design, or pumps and piping system design.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including ASME 31.3 and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel.
  • Ability to direct design teams and external design firms, and create required engineering documentation using Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Ability to interface effectively with site operations and maintenance teams.
  • Must be able to obtain Secret (or higher) security clearance.
