About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Subsystems Stress Analysis Engineer to join our team at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. As a key member of our Integrated Fighter Group, you will be responsible for developing innovative solutions to complex technical problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support F-16 Production/Sustainment and F-22 Sustainment Material Review Board (MRB) repairs to ensure discrepant parts or assemblies meet required strength standards.
- Perform stress analysis on metallic and composite materials, including sizing of detail parts and assessing the strength of primary and secondary aircraft structures and systems.
- Certify new and existing designs by performing strength analysis, releasing drawings, and preparing analysis reports.
- Evaluate and compare structural efficiency and weight for different structural arrangements and concepts through analysis and trade studies.
- Provide input for structural tests, including test requirements, loads, and predicted results.
- Collaborate in the design, development, and maturation of subsystems placement and routing within the aircraft.
- Use classical and digital streaming analysis methods, including finite element analysis, to calculate stresses, deflections, and interface loads on subsystems and supporting hardware.
- Assess incoming work requirements to determine schedules and manpower needs.
- Determine work assignments for team members and review progress.
- Provide expert advice in best practices for subsystems to enable efficiencies in the manufacture of legacy platforms as well as enabling development programs.

Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering, with an advanced degree preferred.
- Subsystems Stress Analysis Engineering Experience (routing, brackets, clamps, fuel tubes, hydraulics, etc.).
- Experience with 3DX, CATIA, Solidworks, Pro Engineer, Creo, Unigraphics, NX, or equivalent 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with creating and using finite element analysis (Nastran, Patran, Hypermesh, Abaqus).
- Experience working with Material Review Board (MRB).
- Experience and knowledge in airframe drawings, structural load paths, aircraft structural behavior, structural failure methods, and aircraft maintenance requirements.
- Experience with metallic and composite design/repair.
- Experience with 3DX, CATIA, Solidworks, Pro Engineer, Creo, Unigraphics, NX, or equivalent 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool.
- Understanding of Aircraft Structural Integrity Programs under MIL-STD-1530.
- Programming ability, including Visual Basic, Python, MATLAB, Fortran, Java etc.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, customer, and manufacturing personnel.
- Experience with structural design.
- Experience in leading and developing team members.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to solve issues with minimal rework or down time.
