About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Legislative Liaison Specialist to join our team in Washington, D.C. The successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise on defense budget and policy issues, identifying potential impacts and legislative engagement strategies required to achieve organizational and programmatic needs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze defense legislation for potential impacts to Navy programs and initiatives.
  • Produce high-quality written documents for senior officials, including briefing materials, legislative summaries, background papers, and correspondence.
  • Develop tracking mechanisms to identify and document funding and language impacts to Navy programs and policies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience analyzing and writing on federal congressional actions.
  • PREFERRED: 5 years of experience in defense acquisition.
  • A strong understanding of the enactment process for defense authorization and appropriation legislation.
  • A working knowledge of the Navy's Planning, Programming, Budgeting & Execution Process (PPBE) process.
  • Familiarity with Navy acquisition programs and initiatives.

What We Offer:

Salary range: $135,000 - $150,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.

Security Clearance Requirements:

Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
