Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Government Affairs Policy Specialist to join our Office of Governmental Affairs team. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping regulatory landscapes that impact New York Life, our agents, and our policy owners.

You will monitor legislative and regulatory activity, craft strategic responses, and educate policymakers to directly influence public policy decisions that affect everything from product design to client interactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and report on conference calls and meetings of industry trade associations and stakeholder groups.
  • Monitor and report on hearings, markups, and other legislative and regulatory events.
  • Conduct research and analysis on legislative and regulatory issues affecting the company.
  • Draft updates for internal stakeholders and material to support advocacy efforts.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of fly-ins on Capitol Hill.
  • Assist with other administrative and compliance matters.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience on the Hill or in a government affairs role.
  • Strong understanding of the legislative process and government operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze complex policy issues and communicate them clearly.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment, confidentiality, and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
