Additionally, this role involves assisting with accommodations for patients with special needs and adhering to established protocols and accuracy standards. To excel in this position, the employee must be competent, flexible, and adaptive to changes in healthcare delivery and technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurate patient registration and insurance verification
  • Medical necessity validation and collection of amounts due from patients
  • Entering orders and providing efficient flow of clinical, administrative, and clerical tasks
  • Obtaining patient signatures on consent and assignment forms
  • Assisting with accommodations for patients with special needs

Requirements

  • High School graduate preferred
  • Previous clerical healthcare experience preferred
  • Previous customer service experience required
  • Must complete a formal medical terminology course and customer service training within 1 year after hire
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and their requirements desired
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and insurance requirements helpful
  • Good interpersonal skills required, with ability to interact with patients and others in a courteous, tactful, and effective manner
  • Strong command of the English language, with ability to speak and write clearly
  • Ability to use personal computer for on-line data entry required
