Job Summary

The Clinical Support Technician II is a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in our Burn Center. As a Nursing Assistant II with clerical skills, you will assist professional caregivers in delivering patient care, transport patients and equipment, and maintain patient rooms. Your clinical knowledge and skills will enable you to perform a wide range of tasks, including sterile techniques, infusion monitoring, and medical equipment operation.

Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians and healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies.
  • Critically review patient care documentation, noting significant changes in the patient's condition, and report immediately to a registered nurse or physician.
  • Provide various clerical tasks, including organizing and prioritizing workload, greeting and directing visitors, researching information as requested by nurses and physicians, reviewing orders for logic and clarity, revising orders as requested by the nurse, answering the telephone/patient call lights, transcribing physician orders, and maintaining medical records.
  • Perform routine quality assurance audits, safety checks, and inventory of supplies.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support, including PI audits and data entry.
  • Provide clinical support assistance, including cleaning the work area, maintaining office equipment, troubleshooting common software and hardware problems, changing linens, checking supply inventory, re-stocking supplies, transporting patients/supplies/specimens, and assisting in the orientation of new employees and students.
  • Provide direct personal care to patients, as outlined in the plan of care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, assisting with ambulation, measuring and recording vital signs, and patient height and weight.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or General Education Development (GED)
  • Listed as a Nursing Assistant I by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
  • Licensed as a Nursing Assistant II by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • One (1) year of clerical or customer service experience and three (3) months of nursing assistant experience
Work Environment

This is a 36-hour per week position, working 12-hour rotating shifts (7am-7:30pm and 7pm-7:30am) with weekend and holiday rotation. The UNC Medical Center is a state-of-the-art facility with a team of dedicated professionals committed to providing exceptional patient care.
