Position Overview:
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is seeking a dedicated analyst to join its Projections Unit within the Budget Analysis Division. This role is pivotal in developing, coordinating, and reporting on CBO's baseline budget forecasts, as well as generating essential documents, including cost assessments for proposed legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
The analyst will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Assisting in the creation and management of budget databases.
  • Preparing and reviewing content for CBO's significant recurring reports on fiscal matters, the President's annual budget proposal, and other relevant subjects.
  • Addressing inquiries from Congressional members and the general public.

Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • U.S. citizenship or current permanent residency with intentions to obtain citizenship.
  • Successful completion of a Tier One Background Investigation.

Essential Skills:
Applicants should possess:
  • A strong quantitative background, particularly proficiency in Excel.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, with a talent for articulating complex information clearly and succinctly.
  • The capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Independence in completing assignments under tight deadlines.
  • Experience with the federal budgeting process is advantageous.

Educational Requirements:
Candidates must hold a graduate degree in public policy, public administration, economics, or a related discipline. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree accompanied by a minimum of four years of experience in budgeting or policy analysis is acceptable.

This position is being filled through an alternative hiring process and is not part of the competitive civil service.
