Job Title: Power and Air Compressor Rental Sales Representative

Stewart & Stevenson is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Rental Sales Representative to join our team. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for effectively renting electric and diesel-powered air compressors, diesel-powered portable generators, and related equipment and services to industrial, commercial, medical, institutional, petrochemical, and oil & gas markets in an assigned territory.

Responsibilities:
  • Generate new customer accounts and service existing ones, analyzing customer needs and interests to determine how our products and services can meet their needs.
  • Recommend and rent equipment and services, utilizing knowledge of machine operations to ensure maximum sales profitability and growth.
  • Achieve sales goals and forecasts, established by the department and the organization.
  • Assist in marketing and sale of new products and/or prototypes to the existing marketplace.
  • Review completed jobs for variations in component costing.
  • Interface with other departments to oversee project development and ensure timely delivery of finished products.
  • Monitor sales orders to ensure project costs, materials lists, and delivery schedules meet project specifications and deadlines.
  • Compute installation or production costs and prepare and submit bid specifications to customers.
  • Negotiate proposals and sales and service contracts with customers.
  • Establish, maintain, and develop business, social, and networking relationships with individuals within the petroleum industry.
  • Plan and organize sales strategy.
  • Expedite the resolution of customer problems, issues, or complaints.
  • Ensure strong, effective market share of our products and services by providing direction and information on the products and related services.
  • Attend sales and trade meetings and read related publications to obtain current market condition information, business trends, and industry developments.
  • Demonstrate and explain use of installed equipment and production processes.
  • Arrange for installation and test-operation of machinery and recommend solutions to product-related problems.
  • Evaluate sales performance results.
  • Provide management oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, market situation, competitive activities, and potential for new products/services.
  • Conduct all business transactions in an ethical manner.
Qualifications:

  • Prior outside rental & sales experience in compressed air, power generation, and material handling is preferred.
  • Ability to build strong presentations for customers and present them in a clear and concise manner.
  • Must follow company pricing guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the position, location, and/or customer.
Education/Experience:
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required, and three to seven years related experience. Associates or Bachelors Degree strongly preferred.
Computer Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Prior experience with JD Edwards systems preferred.

Working Conditions:

Office environment, with some shop environment exposure. Shop environment may not have air conditioning.
